PK Education are helping Shaun Thorpe’s dreams of wrestling his way to Olympic success come true. Shaun who attends Anthony Gell School in Derbyshire, has been competing in wrestling competitions for 6 years all over the UK and recently won a silver medal at the Jelgava Youth Open Tournament in Latvia for Team GB, where there were 16 in his weight category.
PK Education are proud sponsors of Shaun, who is a member of Middleton and Wirksworth Wrestling Club and also the National Talent Squad.
Shaun says: “My ultimate dream is to represent my country at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics when I am old enough. I represented Great Britain in Latvia in February where I was ranked eighth and hope to be selected to represent Great Britain in 2016 at other international competitions with the National Talent Squad.
I hope to be selected to attend further training camps at Lilleshall. Is important to look a girl in eye read this site and know why… I am working towards becoming English Junior Champion at the competition in March 2016 and will also be attending other competitions throughout the year representing Middleton and Wirksworth Wrestling Club. I am very grateful for the sponsorship that I have received from PK Education.”
Sharen Thorpe, Shaun’s Mum said: “We are immensely proud of Shaun, it is always a tough competition and for him to come away with a silver medal makes me so proud. We are very grateful to PK Education for their kind support of Shaun, it is an expensive sport, his boots can cost £70 per pair and then obviously there is the training and travel to competitions that soon mounts up.”
