PK Education has welcomed five new starters to the team, marking a year of epic growth for the supply teacher recruitment agency.
As part of the recent recruitment drive, staff have been appointed in positions across three of their seven offices. Dan Holmes from Chesterfield and Jonathan Owen from Sheffield have been appointed as Consultants at PK Education’s Sheffield office, which is based on Vicar Lane in the city centre, where the company was founded in 2005.
Dan has worked in education recruitment for two and a half years – the first 18 months of which were spent in London.
He commented: “PK has a great reputation in the market with both teachers and schools alike, and that’s no small feat within the education recruitment industry. I look forward to working with everybody at PK and I am glad to be back working in the area.”
Jonathan Owen joins the team with a strong background in both commercial and education recruitment. Outside work he enjoys playing and watching football, particularly with his young son Harrison.
He praised the level of regulation within in the education recruitment sector saying: “The level of professionalism demanded in education recruitment attracted me to both the sector and PK. It’s great to work for a company that upholds high standards and is respected by both education professionals and schools. I’m looking forward to getting more involved with the schools in the area.”
Emma Smith and Jordan Hartley have been appointed as Consultants at PK Education’s Birmingham office, which is based on Granville Street, in the city centre.
Emma joins as a Senior Recruitment Consultant after having stepped away from education recruitment, but finding that she missed the fulfilment of the sector. As a mum of two, she is perfectly aware of the challenges children, parents, candidates and clients may face.
Emma explained: “Education recruitment is so rewarding. Seeing both the candidates and the clients happy, when the role has been filled by the perfect candidate, it’s incredibly fulfilling. PK’s ethos and culture is exactly how it’s portrayed, and the intelligent matching system is something I really advocate. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Jordan joins the team as an Education Consultant. He has a background in recruitment, having worked in education recruitment and other recruitment sectors previously. He also plays football semi-professionally, as well as having a young son.
Jordan commented: “I’ve been in recruitment for a number of years, but after having Kyrie, my son, I had the belief that children are our future completely reinforced, and knew I wanted to be in education recruitment again.”
Neil Waddington joins the Wakefield office as a Business Development Manager, but will be heading up the effort to create a PK Education presence in Leeds. Neil brings over 12 years of education recruitment experience to the role and is looking forward to working with a company that shares his values.
He explained: “PK has a real family feel – their whole ethos is what is right with the education recruitment industry. It’s refreshing to work with Directors of the company, such as Karl, that truly believe the values they set out, and constantly strive to work to them.”
Established by Karl Housley and Paul Gallagher, PK Education now boasts seven offices in Newcastle, Wakefield, Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and Manchester. Last year the company rebranded and made a significant investment in its systems and processes in preparation for nationwide expansion in 2017 during which it made 16 appointments across the business and opened three new offices in Leicester, Wakefield and Manchester. PK’s recent rapid expansion follows increased demand from schools for high-quality teachers and support staff with local knowledge and specialist skills.
New staff have been attracted by the company’s fresh approach to recruitment, which matches staff to schools based on their skills, experience and personality, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. PK’s approach to recruitment within a crowded industry is helping it attract quality teaching staff.
